goal!

drat. hindi na palabas ang goal sa sinehan. well, at least not in metro manila. hindi naman namin (ng kapatid ko) balak dayuhin ang sta. rosa para lang makanuod. sorry rai! i really thought it'd still be showing this week. oh well, we'll just have to watch raul and zidane on tv. and you can always search for them on the web. hehehe

so we did the next best thing. bought a dvd copy in 168. parang dapat yata dumayo na lang kami ng sta. rosa o batangas. hehe. it was my first time to go there. i didn't know what i was expecting, but it was a bit of a letdown. parang greenhills lang sha. (oh yeah, i am NOT advocating piracy :D )

nahilo lang kami kakaikot.
at hindi pa ganun karaming tao dahil nga 'state of emergency' tayo, paano kaya kung kapaskuhan kami pumunta?!? shempre dakila kong lola e talagang nakikipagtawaran pa. i ought to learn a thing or two from her. i mean i'm a skinflint but it's nothing compared to her. alam ko na kung saan ko nakuha yung pagkakuripot ko. naisip ko lang, dapat talaga matuto na ulit ako mag-chinese. it comes pretty handy at times, especially when haggling. but i'm glad i still remember enough to say -- it's expensive! :P

slvr

Saw this phone last week. Motorola's slvr. looks cool and sleek. And packed with features.

Should i buy? hmm.. i was looking for a pda phone. that supports umts - kung bibili lang ako sulitin ko na.. i want a phone that has it all. unfortunately, the manufacturers haven't come out with something up to par with my expectations.

Or they're just smart and don't give us consumers everything to keep us wanting to upgrade. Curses.

Should i or shouldn't i? Actually i don't care that much about phones. Pangtext at pangtawag lang naman e. At alarm clock. Sa mga nakakakilala sa akin alam nila na ilang taon din ako nagtiyaga sa pangkaskas ng yelo na nokia 1610. eons ago. Come to think of it, i haven't actually bought a phone for myself since that one (and it came with the plan 100). So technically, i've never bought a phone. They're all hand me downs from those who got tired of their phones. Yes, my younger siblings have nicer phones than I do.

So should i make this my first ever cellphone purchase? hmm...

desperate

As i was watching murder she wrote on tv, my aunt told me to switch to channel 2. She said that a lot of people died in Ultra while lining up to watch Wowowee. Wowowee is a game show notorious for giving away sums of money and showcases. Today was supposedly their anniversary.

At first i thought it was a bomb. Who could be that cruel and plant a bomb in such a populated place? What would they accomplish? The main audience of the show are individuals/families who would like to try their luck in making their lives a bit better. On a regular day, people would line up as early as 3am to get in the show. For the anniversary it was as early as the day before.

But it wasn't a bomb. it was a stampede. i don't know which is worse. A stampede over a game show. Some would say ludicrous! The producers mentioned that they would only like to spread a little happiness. Instead that little happiness turned into a tragedy.

it is a reflection of how desperate we've become, as a people, as a country. Wowowee gives prizes to a few, easing some people's lives. Still a number go back to their homes hungry. Why not look for work then? Well, jobs are few. And if they do find work, it's not enough to make ends meet.

Although, admittedly there are those who are too lazy to find work, or would rather have instant gratification without breaking a sweat. And there are those who have big families even if they know they can't afford to feed them. But do they deserve death? In some ways, come to think of it, at the very least they won't have to suffer any more.

We look to other countries to provide aid, if not borrow money. But these are temporary solutions, and most of the money goes back to debt servicing, anyway. It's a vicious cycle that we can't seem to break. We look to our leaders for guidance. But sometimes the very people we've elected are the ones ready to feed us to the dogs.

I do not know what I can do to solve our country's problems. I try to work hard and pay my taxes religiously. Everytime I open my payslip, I am ready to cry and wonder where does all the money go? It is ok for me to give money to the government if only i see it being put to work. Maybe it's unfair of me to say that since I am not part of the government. I know there are hardworking government officials out there, i just don't know where they are.

Of bistro discounts and unisex washrooms

had dinner with mon and les last friday. it's been a long time since i laughed that hard. alam niyo yung tawang pampalenke na walang paki kung sino nakakarinig? ganun. i can't wait til we go to boracay and mon will treat us to fridays with her discount card... hehehee. yep, we ain't gonna let you forget it! this blog will come back to haunt you! mwahahaha...

after dinner, we went to coffee bean and tea leaf, i think i had a bit too much liquid intake. (sinulit kc yung strawberry lemonade sa fish & co.) so i frequent the washroom -- bladder problem. hehehe. anyway, you know how most coffee shops have unisex washrooms? well this one kinda does, it has a common entry where the sink is and there 2 rooms within that room, one beside the sink, the other opposite. i say room because it's not a plain stall/cubicle but an enclosed room with doors.

so i entered one of the washrooms, got out and washed my hands (obviously) when i looked up to check myself on the mirror, i saw reflected on it the other door to the other room was wide open and there was a guy in it. (good thing he had his back against the opening) freaked out i got out of the washroom. didn't even get to dry my hands.

on that note, i think God put doors on this earth for a purpose. (though technically God didn't but he did through man... ok never mind the debate on that..) doors are there for a reason.. so please use them! no matter how proud you are of the length of your *insert your pet name here* not everyone would like to see it.. so please have the courtesy, do close the door when you do your thing in a public washroom. especially if it's a unisex public bathroom. some people would like to keep their food in their tummies and let it go out the normal end.
