welcome to the real world

I just turned 28 last monday. Woke up bright and early, opened my laptop and logged onto sametime. while waiting for the emails to download, I received a message from our customer. Nope it wasn't a birthday greeting, she was reporting an issue. Since I didn't have access to production called up SM to look into it. And as the morning progressed more markets started reporting problems. Thankfully by lunch everything was back to normal.

So how does it feel being a year older? wala lang. i guess as you get older, birthdays seem to become just like any other day. O baka dahil ayaw lang tanggapin na tumatanda na. hehehe. my gift to myself? secret! hahaha.

Now, i'm in one of my philosophical modes. asking myself is this what i really want to do? shempre paminsan-minsan kelangan din tumigil at mag-isip. actually it doesn't help that another person i know is resigning. naalala ko yung sabi ni Roch dati, at least sa Co. A may peaks and troughs. dito puro peak. on my end the past 2 months, work was relatively lighter. i should've been doing some research work for a paper but i got sick, and there were some issues popping here and there, plus all the extra-curriculars.

actually after the back-to-back releases, late last yr and early this yr, i was excited about work wanting to do more. then i received my annual performance review. that burst my bubble. i remember my conversation with tita jojo. given everything you've done last year and you'll just get a meets expectations don't kill yourself over work. ngayon nga parang na-wa-walan na ako ng gana magtrabaho. i have to muster enough passion for the things i do.

i'm not alone in that complaint, most of my colleagues are also overworked. but then that seems to be the norm in the IT industry. i guess i should count myself lucky that i have work that allows flexibility, gives access to a lot of resources, and pays ok. Thank you God for all the blessings that you've bestowed upon me. (and those around me)

on the other end of the spectrum. my grandmother goes back to Toronto on the 26th. Wish i could go back with her for vacation. but as it is now, i have to watch my budget. welcome to the real world where you have to pay bills, insurance, all-sorts of taxes, and mortgages. that should give me inspiration to quit complaining and haul my ass. hahahaha.

my, i guess i really am old. Salamat sa lahat ng nakaalala :)
